Karnataka - Dharwad

Experience for Smokeless Cookstove Revolution this was the first workshop amongst the community facing the issue of indoor pollution due to inefficient cook stoves conducted in February, 2017. This initial day’s community training programme was facilitated through an urban dweller Suresh Babu who after a stint in US decided to go back to his roots. The idea of our team travelling to Dharwad for a training programme originated when Suresh Babu wrote to us about usage of open and traditional cook fire stoves by the communities in Dharwad and hence putting additional pressure on the forests and causing health issues due to excessive toxic fumes. We had a very good experience working with the masons in Dharwad among other conscious people who wanted to understand our chulah design using Rocket Stove Technology. Some of them went ahead and made this chulah in their homes under the guidance of Suresh Babu himself.
